The Southold Town Democratic Club (www.southolddems.com) will host a breakfast entitled, “Taking Back the 1st,” on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at CJ's American Grill, in the Mattituck Shopping Plaza, from 9 – 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be former East End Congressman Tim Bishop who will discuss the importance of Democrats taking back the seat he once held from Republican Lee Zeldin in the upcoming November election.
The breakfast is the first in a series of events planned by the Southold Town Democratic Club, according to co-president and former Southold Town Board candidate Debbie O’Kane.
“This summer, two very qualified Democrats, Dave Calone & Anna Throne-Holst will face off in a primary to unseat Republican Lee Zeldin in November,” O’Kane said. “This breakfast is a great opportunity to learn more about the importance of the upcoming Congressional race.”
O’Kane and former Southold Town Supervisor candidate Damon Rallis were recently named co-presidents of the Southold Town Democratic Club.
“This is an important election year,” Rallis added, “and this is the first in a series of events aimed at a renewed commitment to informing the voters of Southold Town, regardless of their political affiliation.”
The breakfast, he explained, is a pre-cursor to a planned debate between Dave Calone and Anna Throne-Holst, tentatively scheduled for early April.
The cost for the event is $20 and includes a full breakfast featuring assorted Goldberg bagels, scrambled eggs, French toast, home fires, sausage, bacon, assorted juices, and mimosas.
